McDonogh School is a tapestry of diversity in all of its forms—race and ethnicity, 宗教, 性别认同, 性取向, 以及社会经济地位, 举几个例子. This diversity enriches our perspectives and makes us stronger, but it is just the starting point.

Board of Trustees Diversity, 股本, and 包容 Committee

The Board of Trustees is committed to the work of making sure McDonogh School is a diverse, 公平的, 包容性的机构. To that end, in July 2020, an 股本 Committee of the Board was established as a standing group. 这个委员会, 由迪·德拉蒙德主持, ensures open dialogue at the board level and helps to foster, 鼓励, and emphasize the importance of diversity, 股本, 和包容.

2020年夏天, the Administration created the 机构公平专责小组 to further explore and examine the  School’s understanding of culture, 政策, 并从DEI的角度进行实践. The Task Force created three subcommittees to accomplish these objectives. 

Academic Excellence and Student Experience Subcommittee

The Academic Excellence and Student Experience Subcommittee focuses on assessing the needs of the community and planning professional development and student engagement opportunities. 

麦克唐纳声音小组委员会

The 麦克唐纳声音小组委员会 is a group of McDonogh alumni historians and scholars working in partnership with internal staff to help craft programming aimed at addressing the school’s history and unique relationship to its founder, 约翰McDonogh. The group is also collecting oral histories from alumni throughout the decades, which 将 be included and shared as part of the school’s 150th anniversary in 2023.

The 院校公平小组委员会 is charged with assessing the operations and policies of McDonogh from an 股本 和包容 perspective and identifying areas of opportunity or improvement.

McDonogh supports affinity spaces and adheres to NAIS’s Best Practices on the rationale and purpose of affinity spaces. Several student, parent, 教师/staff and alumni affinity spaces have already been established.

FACULTY DIVERSITY LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

McDonogh 教师 and staff attend regular in-school professional development around diversity, 股本, 和包容. In addition to on-going school-based professional development, 教师 and staff are also 鼓励d to participate in national and local conferences.

中学 and 上学校 students have the opportunity to attend local and national diversity leadership conferences to learn about themselves and the world around them as it pertains to diversity, 股本, 和包容.
